Friends, what you hear and see on TV about oil and our future is merely infotainment, something to keep you watching to satisfy their sponsors. Of course, everything on TV about government, economics, world affairs is superficial and irrelevant. The issues TV keeps you interested in, such as religion, values and life styles, health tips, spats between political candidates, ups and downs of the economy and the stock market, whose dog was rescued from raging flood waters, whether today’s weather is evidence for or against global warming, our legislature’s debates over don’t ask don’t tell, what congressman engaged in some naughty sex act, all that is irrelevant crap. The TV audiences get fleeting glimpses or visual by-lines related to the real issues nations are dealing with.
I have included these .jpegs to show the relation between the Gulf oil spill, what the president is doing about offshore drilling, and the real energy situation and energy crisis confronting all nations now and for the foreseeable future. If you look at the pictures and follow their URLs, and particularly the URLs in the third slide, please do not miss the last slide, with no pictures, and read the http://srb.stanford.edu/nur/oil_and_war.pdf article (revised in 2007). You will see a clear example of what I am talking about.
