The Ossified, Obsolete Paradigms
of the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Intelligentsia as a Whole
Reorienting our worldview, after the dominance of the person-oriented view is so important to me. Ironically and unwittingly academia and the intelligentsia has been providing support for the covert goals of the upper classes and conservatives. This is similar to the unwittingly self-sabotage of the lower class fundamentalists who have seized upon a pseudo commonality in values and religious beliefs with the conservatives while depriving the lower and middle classes of representation for their economic, health, education, and retirement security interests and laid their youth susceptible to a pseudo patriotism that is costing their lives.
In the 50s, 60s, 70s, and up into the 80s, American media and politicians decried Russian science and education as being dominated by coercion from Communist leaders to slant their science and education to support the Communist ideology. Now, I conclude that we have been following the same path but have not been able to see it. Many, especially those in the humanities and social sciences, and I might say the mentality of the academic-intellectual population as a whole, have been slavishly devoting their lives to research and publications that have a net benefit to the American people, moreover the people of the world, that is less than zero.
Business and technology marches relentlessly on, unchecked by the majority of the rest of our most brilliant but uselessly diverted minds, leaving behind them a wealthy American elite and vast wastelands on the rest of the earth and its peoples.
Again, unwittingly, the helping professions have been like stupid consorts to health insurance companies, pharmaceutical industries, and psychiatrists, and those many medical doctors catering to the whimsical spendthrift desires of rich 'patients'.
We are in class warfare and it requires a paradigm shift in the intelligentsia’s thinking and a reallocation of time and research efforts to what ‘will make a difference’, and not just in the fate of 'one person at a time' but to the millions of human sheep, shivering out in the cold and just awaiting slaughter.
Unfortunately, once in the grips of a paradigm or weltanschauung within the dominant Zeitgeist of our era, it is next to impossible to 'see' in any other way.
